Log a sighting

Where, when and roughly how many. It takes under a minute; everything else is optional.

Only flocks over a roost. Like BirdWatch Ireland’s survey, we count flocks gathering and wheeling over the place they’ll sleep, not birds passing overhead or feeding by day. That keeps the pins on real roosts.

Where did you see them?

Tap the map at the roost, or use your location if you’re there now.

At Gretna. Tap the map to move the pin.

Roughly how many birds?

A best guess is fine. A thousand starlings looks like a small cloud; a hundred thousand fills the sky.

Under 1,0001,000 to 10,00010,000 to 100,000100,000 or more

The flock was gathering over a roost, not just flying past.
